Stars Are Blind

As a person of very limited vision, I know that a good pair of glasses is hard to come by. That's why I rely mainly on contacts. Every once in a while, however, I yearn for the days of my good ol’ specs. No disrespect to the ready-in-an-hour joints of the world, but they’re not always the best places to find eyewear that’s as stylish as the rest of your wardrobe—and let’s remember, if you’ve got eyesight like mine, you’re going to be wearing your glasses day in, day out. With these new “New York” specs from Prism London, you're going to stand out in a good way. Yeah, they're a little big, but their design is sharp: They’re similar to the ever-present Wayfarer shape, but a little sleeker, slimmer, and more sophisticated in a Buddy Holly kind of way. Designer Anna Laub mentions American culture of the fifties and sixties among her influences. Each pair is hand-made in London and are carved out of these blocks of “acetate” and finished by hand at a family-run factory in the North Eastern region of Italy, where glasses-making originated from. The line is also produced in very limited numbers, so owners are one of very few. Now, I can’t pretend they’re not expensive- they are -but like a watch or a briefcase, your glasses are worthy of a significant investment: you’re wearing them every day. Plus, when was the last time a watch came in a case this cool, anyway?
